Subjects Taught

I obtained my B.A. in English from Stillman College.

I obtained my M.S. in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University.

I have been working for the Hale County Board of Education since 2003. I served my first 9 years at Hale County High School as an English 9-11, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, and Drama teacher; a sponsor for the Student Council, ELLES*, and the Hale County Singers; volleyball coach; and UA/UWA Governing Board* representative for Hale County.

*ELLES stands for Elite Ladies in Leadership Emphasizing Service. This organization was founded in 2006 after two students wanted to perform community service for the local as well as surrounding counties. ELLES was and is Hale County High School's first non-greek sorority. It is my desire to start a junior level of this prestigious organization for girls in middle school.

*The UA/UWA Governing Board provides professional development opportunities for educators in the state of Alabama.

During the years 2012 - 2014, I served Hale County BOE as the instructor for SOAR Academy, our system's alternative school.

Currently, I teach 8th grade English and sponsor the school choir.

I am married to a wonderful diesel mechanic, Derrick, and we've been married since 2002. We have no children. We breed Redbone hound dogs, enjoy fishing, and love watching football together. I am a cancer survivor, and I love living life since I was given a second chance at living it. I enjoy reading, writing, watching movies, and listening to and playing music. I've been playing piano since I was a young girl, and I am currently my church's Minister of Music.

I enjoy watching children learn new things and grasp a better understanding of old things. I possess a God-given talent of teaching, reaching, and explaining life to young people, and I use every avenue that is possible to relate to them. I am a life-long learner, and I know that as long as I teach AND want to learn, I'll always be as young as my students. Learning is paramount!
